What We Did

After an extensive search, we identified and acquired the Royal British Legion building as the ideal site, sensitively converting it into a modern health centre while retaining original features, including the bell. We worked closely with Derby City PCT, Lister House Practice, Derby Urgent Care Centre and Pear Tree Pharmacy to design a multi-level facility that met the needs of every stakeholder. Throughout the process, our team remained tenacious and flexible, navigating complex site constraints and multiple commissioning arrangements to deliver the scheme on time.

The Outcome

The £4.4m development replaced cramped, inadequate premises, including portakabins, with a fit-for-purpose environment for GPs, health professionals and patients alike. The new facilities enabled the practice to deliver a far wider range of treatments in-house, significantly reducing referrals to secondary care. Derby Urgent Care Centre, one of the first GP-led health centres in the country, is also housed on-site.
