OneMedical Property was selected in Spring this year by Braintree District Council to develop the medical Centre for the Hedingham Medical Centre practice on the site off Osier Way. The local authorities safeguarded the plot of land on Osier Way for some years.
The Council, together with NHS Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), identified this land as an opportunity for investment. They have been looking at the best way of bringing a medical centre forward on the site to replace the three GP surgeries local to the area, all run by the Hedingham Medical Centre.
The proposals were formally discussed at a Braintree District Council’s Cabinet meeting on 12 July 2021. After evaluating the options, the Council, Mid Essex CCG, and the Hedingham Medical Centre agreed that OneMedical Property should take the project on to the next stage as a specialist healthcare property developer and long-term landlord.
As a result, OneMedical Property has worked closely with Braintree District Council and Hedingham Medical Centre to take forward existing plans.
A long-needed and awaited healthcare facility
To listen to the local community effectively so that we could submit the planning application based on local feedback, since being appointed by Braintree District Council, Hedingham Medical Centre and OneMedical Property have worked closely with patients, councillors, stakeholders, and community groups to be as inclusive as possible.
OneMedical Property and Hedingham Medical Centre ran virtual and in-person patient and stakeholder meetings to listen to questions and hear everyone’s feedback, as well as to share information about the project. The teams involved spoke to inclusivity groups, sensory champions, the Parish Council, local community services such as the Baptist Church and local library, and others.
We answered the points raised prior to submitting the complete planning application, taking into account the planners’ and practice team’s feedback.
